When at bellydance haflas and festivals, I see many more doumbeks than djembes. Djembes are much taller (hence slightly less totable) and louder than doumbeks. I dug up a couple articles about both. magpie_complex

Sounds like it could be the motor coupling. It is composed of two plastic pieces that sandwich's a rubber piece. The purpose is to prevent the motor from burning out if the machine is overloaded. It is located between the motor and the gearcase. Lift the front right side of the machine up, look for rubber debris on the floor. They are easy to replace. If it is Kenmore or whirlpool the part # is 285753 and be purchased at any Sears Parts or Whirlpool dealer. John's Lawn Care

I just had a similar problem on an industrial machine at work (theatrical costume shop) and the repair guy flat out told us that it would cost more to repair than to replace with a brand new one.

If it's rusted through, it's served you well for many years- perhaps you can find a sale this holiday weekend with "no interest for a year" or other deals. Plus the federal govt is giving cash grants to replace old appliances with energy star ones.

It's a good time to buy... SKL

Sit down and have a talk with them. Tell them at first that drum mutes are available for a very cheap price. Drum mutes will muffle everything. They even have them for cymbals! And you actually could spend under 100 dollars for drum and cymbal mutes. And if you need advice which drumset to buy, along with cymbals, my email address is. Fear not, fellow drummer! I'll help you get that set! savage_percussion

Don't bother with Rock Band 1 on the wii, it's a very limited game. I recommend Rock Band 2 if you can wait for it (December 22 release date).

What I would do in your situation, is sell your wii and games and get a 360. You can use the Rock Band drums on all 3 games, and RB2 is already available. Rob T

well since you have a beginner series of drums, some nice heads will greatly inprove the sound. two ply heads is what youre looking for. they will give you less sustain, and a warmer sound. they are also great on the cheaper sets where you might want to muffle the overtones of the cheap wood. you have many options for 2ply heads, and the guy before me said evans g2, which is a standard head, but works for your purposes. i would suggest the evans hydraulics (no need to replace the bottom head). its a 2ply head with oil in between the plies. they are known for making crap sets sound decent (not that you have a crap set. mapex is actually one of the better manufacturers). Mike

Yes and save money as well Assuming you have poured or block walls. Look over the fiberglass ceiling tiles 3x4 plastic fronted. Using liquid nail. These can be glued to the walls. And come in many colors. Easy to cut as well. You can take these and turn a cement Wall into quit a art project. Use as you would color tiles, Insulated and sound proof. Spray with a clear cote. Problem there easy to damage and need cleaned with mild detergent Next take roll insulation and insulate between the floor beams. Use 2 0r 3 layers of paper cote. then 4x8 sheets of fiberglass over them. Nail to the beams. Can be painted with water bases paint. Not much sound would escape a basement like that. Do not put wood under ground termites love that. Have mature Friends these are soft walls and ceiling easy to damage jamesbergen50

Assuming drum brakes, you will need to release the self adjuster. Using a pick to hold the self-adjusting lever away from the star wheel that is part of the adjuster, as you turn the star wheel in the correct direction to release the brake shoes. cargopilot
