Should i continue playing Drums or play the guitar?
Wayne asked:
i’m currently learning on how to play drums but my mom said that for the place we’re living at, a drum or a set would be too loud, so i want to switch to guitar, but my mom thinks it’s expensive, and loud.i really want to play the guitar though to rock out like those guys from bands.so what do you guys think?

For guitar i don’t really need an amp, just a simple electric guitar.

Get a POD, which are only around $200, less on ebay. It’s all you need for an amp, and you can use your computer speakers, or headphones.
Guitars are cheap… compared to drums. A drum set can cost you thousands of dollars.. tons of cash for sticks. Cymbals are expensive as hell.
$500, and you’ll have yourself a decent practice rig for guitar…. and you could go cheaper than that.
You could always get a cheap electric drum set. Adam D
Go with whatever you enjoy the most. If you’re feeling like you want to play guitar, you can go acoustic or electric. If you go electric, just make sure you have some headphones that you can plug into your amp. If you are really into drumming and have the money, electric drum sets are very quiet, but as with the guitar, you will need headphones for this. Not to mention it is expensive. But most importantly, stick with what you most enjoy for now. Once you become very proficient with one, maybe you will turn to the other at a later time when your living conditions change. Corey
Yeah, a pod and headphones will do a great job. I use the Line 6 JM4 and headphones if it’s after 9:00 PM or so. The JM4 is $329 but also has hundreds of drums tracks and full band backing tracks to practice with and it also allows you to record right to the device. Hearing yourself recorded is a good tool to monitor your progress. The POD Express is a good low cost alternative, but obviously won’t sound as good as the more expensive models. It does have a headphone jack and built-in tuner so all you need is a guitar and a cable. Here are a few options depending on your budget. ddrum
