What is the extra port on the Rock Band 2 drum set?

Guitar hero metallica just came out and it looks pretty cool. I have rock band 1 and 2, and i can’t lie i am a big fan of rock band, but the guitar hero drums just seem better than the rock band 1 drums i have. So what should i do (is it worth the money)? Oh yeah were can the second bass pedal for expert +?
